So this song is probably one of the most honest songs I've ever recorded. On it I play all the instruments. Most of it's one take. I originally recorded it as a scratch take just so I could send it to my band so they could learn the changes of the song. But over the years this recording has grown on me. I like all it's imperfections. I like that I wrote it on my favorite guitar. (And that guitar never seems to stay in tune.) You can hear it very clearly on the recording. I also used an electric bass. Which is something I haven't done on any previous SOSOS records. I hadn't used any electric instruments until now. This song got the electric guitar on it because I was recording someone else in my studio and I happened to like the tone he got out of my guitar. When he left, I decided I would just throw the guitar on my song to see what it sounded like. Again it's one take. And I just like the way it sounded so I kept it. Over the years I've listened to it and thought of all the little changes I wanted to make to it. But I never got around to them until recently. So now I finally added the extra parts that I was hearing while retaining all of the original feel of the song. I added cello, organ and more electric guitar. It's a very honest song that wrote itself and I'm proud of it just the way it is.
